REMEMBER: If purchasing KI on the Internet, please beware of imitations and counterfeit products. Certain companies sell potassium iodate (KIO-3) in place of potassium iodide (KI). BUT, POTASSIUM IODATE IS NOT FDA APPROVED FOR RADIATION BLOCKING AND IS NOT RECOMMENDED. Considerable research has demonstrated that iodate has a much higher incidence of unwanted side effects and is much lower in effectiveness than iodide.
